As often happens, this quail had no desire to conform to the well planned flush we’d set up. Instead of flying away from us and across the field, he popped up and flew right between our guide, Ryan Trovato, and my wife, Cherie. I realized Cherie’s view of the bird was obstructed by a tree so I took the shot.
