NEW ORLEANS, LA – A New Orleans man tried to stop another man from burglarizing his vehicle, but the suspect had a firearm and was apparently willing to use it instead of getting caught.
We don’t have many details about this incident, but around 3:30 AM this past Saturday, a man confronted another man who was attempting to break into his vehicle. The suspect then shot the victim twice and fled the scene on foot.
The victim was transported to the hospital, and the severity of his injuries is unreported.
There is security footage of the incident that doesn’t show the actual shooting, but you can hear both gunshots and then see the suspect fleeing on foot. The police have not found the suspect and are still investigating the incident.
Confronting Suspects Can Be a Dangerous Decision
As I mentioned, we don’t have a lot of details on this incident. Was the victim armed when he decided to confront the suspect? Whether he did or didn’t, confronting suspects can be extremely dangerous. We mention this often, but you have no idea if the suspect is armed or how many suspects there actually are. Did you see the suspect’s lookout that was hiding possibly? And while it is tragic that the victim was shot twice, we can all use this incident as a reminder not to put ourselves in more danger than necessary.
