Particularly concerning is the possibility of unseen accomplices, which could have escalated the situation. It also brings into focus the importance of having immediate access to a firearm for self-defense, especially if legally permitted to carry concealed, a detail not disclosed in this case. The victim’s decision to re-engage posed significant risks, but in this instance, it resulted in the successful thwarting of the carjacking.
