NASHVILLE, TN — Homicide detectives are investigating an early morning shooting on Monday that left a 42-year-old woman dead after a confrontation inside a Nashville home.
According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the incident began when Keiona Wilson, 42, went to the residence in search of her husband, who was reportedly in a “dating relationship” with the woman who lived there, Keosha Greer, 42.
Police say Wilson found her husband’s vehicle parked behind the residence and moved it to the front using her key before knocking on the door. After some time, Greer spoke to Wilson through the home’s surveillance system speaker. The two engaged in a heated argument about whether Wilson’s husband was inside.
When Wilson attempted to force her way inside, Greer fired a single shot through the storm door. That round did not hit Wilson, who then gained entry into the home. A physical struggle broke out between the two women, during which Greer fired a second shot. This time, Wilson was struck in the abdomen.
Wilson managed to exit the home and drove a short distance in her husband’s car before locating an officer outside the Madison Precinct. She was transported to Skyline Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.
After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office, investigators confirmed that no charges have been filed at this time. The DA will determine whether charges are appropriate following further review.
This incident underscores the importance of avoiding volatile situations whenever possible. Confrontations fueled by emotion can escalate quickly, leaving little time to make sound decisions. Choosing to step away and seek help from authorities before tensions boil over can prevent a tragic outcome like this one.
