Off-Duty Atlanta Area Officer Kills Carjacker Before He Can Escape

A carjacker in DeKalb County, Georgia didn’t make it an inch before he was shot and killed by an off-duty police officer working security. An armed man approached a woman from behind and attempted to steal her vehicle around 8:30 p.m., DeKalb police interim Chief James Conroy said. She immediately got the attention of an off-duty officer working security in the area, police said. The officer found the suspect in the vehicle, approached him and ordered him to drop his handgun, but the suspect pointed the weapon toward the officer, Conroy said.
