The rifle and pistol ranges at Sarasota County’s Knight’s Trail Park are great shooting facilities. They should be. They were bought and paid for with taxpayer dollars. There are 70 shooting positions all with overhead cover, which allows for target practice during inclement weather. They’re fairly well maintained. However, they suffer from one overriding problem: Sarasota County’s senior park’s management is not gun-friendly. They don’t know guns, and act like they’re doing shooters a favor by allowing them to shoot at the public range. I’ve written extensively about problems at the facility.
