Michigan’s Senate Bill 789 is controversial they say, because it has provisions to issue a carry permit, to people with protective orders against them. What opponents don’t tell you, is that it doesn’t allow issuance to people with protective orders, that pertain to them not being able to own a gun. The bill does a good thing in that it eliminates county boards, by shifting the issuance responsibility, to county clerks to make issuance uniform.
