“I personally wouldn’t go there,” the young lady told me. “I don’t believe in war or violence of any kind.” The unsolicited remark surprised me. I was simply asking about the correct bus line to visit New Zealand’s Air Force Museum in Christchurch. Just four years ago the city was devastated by earthquakes and, in its rebuilding phase, has become a confusion of detours, shipping containers, and building cranes.
