Concealed carry in Illinois had no opponents more fervent than Chicago Police Chief Garry McCarthy and Cook Co. Sheriff Tom Dart. So it will be interesting to see what that duo has to say about an incident in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood near midnight Friday night. Everardo Custodio, 22, opened fire into a crowd of people, scattering them. A 47-year-old driver for the ride-sharing service Uber drew his licensed pistol and fired back, hitting Custodio in the shin, thigh and lower back.
