The truth is that there really isn’t a huge difference between a good 9mm expanding round and a .45 ACP of similar design. The myths perpetuated in these internet battles keep many in ignorance. There are definitely differences between a Glock and a 1911 with pros and cons to each handgun. Instead of ending the vitriol to discuss these differences (some educators do try), we continue to fight amongst ourselves because our self-identity and self-worth has somehow become tied to these inanimate objects. It isn’t about the size of our genitalia. It IS about how we see ourselves overall. We want our choices to be the right ones. We want to feel confident and consistent with the decisions we have made for ourselves. Self-defense is extremely important to us all and we don’t want to think that we may have made a less than ideal choice about our own safety.
