A couple homeowners and their elderly mother were not expecting any company early yesterday morning, but they did have a plan in place for defending themselves. A man who broke into an Orange County home was fatally shot by the homeowner early Tuesday. Police said about 1 a.m., a man broke into a home in the 7900 block of South County Road 700 East in Hardinsburg. The homeowners heard the entry and moved their 86-year-old mother into a bedroom to protect her.
