ATLANTA, GA – In an early morning incident that underscores the city’s ongoing struggles with property crime, an off-duty Atlanta police officer took decisive action against an intruder attempting to break his apartment. The confrontation occurred at approximately 5 a.m. on Tuesday at the Dwell at the View apartment complex located at 1620 Hollywood Road NW.

According to WSBTV , the officer who was home at the time of the attempted break in, responded by grabbing his firearm and shooting at the perpetrator. While the would-be burglar was not struck by the gunfire, he wound up falling three stories to the ground, resulting in non-life threatening injuries.

The identities of both the officer involved and the suspect have been withheld pending further investigation.
