Despite the civil rights and moral issues involved, here has been a slow trickle of businesses in recent years officially requesting that customers not bring firearms into their establishments. The early and otherwise mindless efforts in this direction were to post a “no guns” sign on the premises. History has been instructive for the ones come lately to this decision, so the typical press release these days is something along the lines of, “We respectfully request people leave their guns at home.”

Respectfully? Of what or whom, exactly?

Well, I have what I believe to be an actually respectful request: Do not comply. I request you remain responsibly armed and not shirk your grave, moral responsibility merely because a mindless milquetoast has requested otherwise.
